the kind where I try to cram several days even weeks worth of 'schtuff' into one post... that's what this will be. I love to write, I love to share, but I dislike that I never seem to find the time. So forgive me if this goes a little long.
Lots and lots of stuff going on
Countdown to graduation
In approximately 5 weeks, I will witness my oldest son go from being a High School Senior to becoming a new recruit for the United States Marine Corps. He still has some work to complete before it is official but he is so very close. I've been spending a lot of time lately focusing on the plans for that day. So excited that my parents and sister will be here. It will be nice to have them both here at the same time.
Jacob turns 18
In 11days. I tell him everyday that I cannot fathom how he is almost 18 when I still feel 25.. okay.. maybe 29.... He is actually planning to go on a road trip with some friends to a car show in Georgia that weekend. So I guess we'll celebrate another time with him. So far, still don't know what we are getting him. Probably a combination gift with graduation.
Madison's Dance
The dance competition season is almost over. Or so we thought! We have one more competition this coming weekend which we thought would be our last. That was until last weekend when we attended a local competition and one of our dances (that Madison is in) Indiana Jones scored the highest for any dance in the competition (out of 300). Madison and all the girls from that dance got invited to the National competition and so now we are attending this in June. (just in case my June wasn't chock full already!). So... I'm so very proud of her and how her season has gone this year. Here are a few shots of her in her dance attire:
Other news
The rest falls under misc. categories.
Been trying to add some decorative touches to the house. Painting, hanging photos, etc. We are planning to move Fletcher into Madison's room and Madison into the boys room when Jacob leaves for Boot camp. I'm excited about the ideas that we have for redoin' their rooms. Jason keeps trying to persuade me to WAIT until Jacob actually leaves to get started. I am pretty anxious.
I've had the itch to be a 'photographer' for many years. I've pretty much made that known often here when I do photoshoots with my kids. I love it. It is something that I've been passionate about and I could never get over the need to scratch that 'itch'. One comment left on facebook the other day by a friend stirred up that desire to see if I could actually make this happen. I put the word out to friends locally that I would love to shoot anyone that is interested (for free) to build up a portfolio. I was overwhelmed with the response. I have booked 6 sessions and have 2 or 3 more waiting to finalize. After I do these photo shoots, I will start charging and hopefully have the start of a little business. Now, time to start saving up for that BIG camera I've been wanting! I'm very excited to have the opportunity to do this and I am amazed by the support and interest of so many.
One last note, if you are the praying kind, please say a prayer for my Aunt Amanda who just had a double mastectomy and will start chemo for spots on her liver. She is young (only 40) and has a little girl. My Uncle is more like a cousin to me (we are only 4 years apart) and I have them in my thoughts and prayers. I believe in the power of prayer and I am praying for her full recover.
that wraps up one of THOSE posts... I will post one more time this week... got a tribute post up my sleeve.

BUSY BUSY BUSY you are - and congrats on your photography side business :) How fun!!! I will say a prayer for your aunt...have a super day!

Great post Sherry!
I was in your shoes last year at this time with the HS graduation stuff going on. Good luck to your sweet boy going off to the Marines. FUN dancing pictures! Best of luck with your new adventures of photography. That's cool! My prayers are going out for your aunt. She is very young.
